New Jersey Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs
Mental health is vital to your overall well-being, especially when recovering from a substance abuse disorder. Many Americans have a mental illness. This may include some individuals’ generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). 26% of Americans have mental health disorders. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, more than 1.1 million adults in New Jersey have a mental health condition. Around 310,000 New Jerseyans did not seek help for their condition, and 28.5% did not receive care because they could not afford it. Mental health conditions also impact adolescents in New Jersey. For example, 61.4% of teens in New Jersey between the ages of 12 – 17 suffering from depression did not receive mental healthcare.
These statistics mean it’s imperative for substance abuse treatment programs to emphasize addiction treatment and mental health.
